Why there is no number here. We could show an estimate. Plenty of sites do. But a road tax figure that looks authoritative and is wrong is worse than no figure at all — it can cost you money and it wastes your time. This page stays empty until we can stand behind it.
What we currently understand
There is no federal road tax. Most states and territories exempt EVs from annual road tax. Victoria applies a distance-based charge, modelled here at 12,000 km per year. Select a state or territory.
