Germany is in our scope, but we have not yet checked its 2026 rules against the authority's own published rates. So there is no calculator on this page.
Why there is no number here. We could show an estimate. Plenty of sites do. But a road tax figure that looks authoritative and is wrong is worse than no figure at all — it can cost you money and it wastes your time. This page stays empty until we can stand behind it.
What we currently understand
Battery-electric cars first registered between 18 May 2020 and 31 December 2030 are exempt from Kfz-Steuer for 10 years from first registration. After the exemption, electric cars are assessed on kerb weight in 200 kg blocks, with the rate per block rising by weight class.
