Privacy policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

1. Who we are

EVRoadTax.com is operated by [REGISTERED COMPANY NAME], registration number [COMPANY REGISTRATION NUMBER], registered at [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. For privacy questions, or to exercise any right described below, write to privacy@evroadtax.com.

2. What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use our road tax calculator, read our guides, or send us an installation enquiry, and what we do with it.

3. What we collect

3.1 Information you give us

  • Installation enquiries: your name, email address, optional phone number, country, region or postcode, property type, charger type of interest, vehicle, how soon you need it, and any message you add.
  • Partner applications: your company name, contact details, the countries you cover, and a description of what you supply or install.
  • Correspondence: anything you send us by email.

3.2 Information collected automatically

  • Essential: nothing beyond what is needed to serve a page and keep the site secure.
  • Analytics (only with consent): pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. We have enabled IP anonymisation.
  • Anti-abuse: when you submit a form we store a salted, one-way hash of your IP address purely to rate limit spam. The hash cannot be reversed to your IP address and is not used for tracking.

Calculator inputs are used to compute your result and are not stored against your identity. We do not ask you to create an account.

4. Why we are allowed to use it

PurposeLawful basis
Answering your installation enquiry and passing it to a suitable partnerYour consent, and steps taken at your request before entering a contract
Assessing a partner applicationYour consent / legitimate interests in running our partner network
Analytics about which pages are usefulYour consent
Preventing spam and abuseLegitimate interests
Meeting legal and accounting obligationsLegal obligation

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies only by default. Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them in the consent banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer; withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection.

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell personal data.

6. Sharing installation enquiries with partners

We do not install chargers ourselves. When you submit an installation enquiry you are asking us to pass it to an independent installer or supplier who can quote for the work. By ticking the consent box you agree to that specific sharing.

We share only what a partner needs to quote: your name, contact details, location and requirement. Partners act as independent controllers of the data they receive and must handle it in line with applicable law and their own privacy notice.

7. Other recipients

  • Hosting and infrastructure providers who process data on our instructions.
  • Analytics provider, only if you consented.
  • Professional advisers where necessary.
  • Authorities where we are legally required to disclose.

8. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside your country. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses, or we keep the processing within the region.

9. How long we keep it

  • Installation enquiries: up to 24 months from the last contact, then deleted.
  • Partner applications: up to 24 months.
  • Analytics: per the provider's retention setting, typically 14 months.
  • Rate limiting hashes: short-lived and rotated.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time.

Email privacy@evroadtax.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

11. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls on our systems, and we keep the personal data we hold to the minimum needed. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and will notify you and the relevant authority if a breach affects you.

12. Children

This service is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect their data.

13. Changes

We will update this policy when our practices change and will revise the date at the top. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be highlighted on the site.
